Psychotherapy

I view psychotherapy as a space in which you can be supported, learn more about yourself, and consider ways to move closer to your goals. I believe the process includes not only the conversations you have with your therapist, but also your experimentation with different ways of navigating the challenges you encounter in life.
My Approach

A strong alliance between client and therapist is associated with positive outcomes in psychotherapy, and this is the highest priority in my work. I believe this alliance is cultivated by meeting clients where they are in their journey and working collaboratively throughout the psychotherapy process.
In addition to prioritizing the therapeutic relationship, I also draw from supportive approaches to psychotherapy. These emphasize creating a space in which you can safely explore emotions, past experiences, and patterns related to coping with distress and interacting with others. This exploration is done in a non-judgmental manner, and the deeper understanding of yourself that results can facilitate meaningful growth.
I bring warmth, empathy, and dedication to my work, and I ask that clients bring openness, honesty, and the willingness to challenge themselves. While some hesitation about psychotherapy is normal, a strong commitment will increase the likelihood that you get a good return on the time, energy, and money you invest in the process.
Insurance & Payment
I am an in-network provider with Aetna. If you are planning to seek care using insurance, I recommend consulting with your carrier ahead of time for information about their coverage related to mental health services as well as any financial responsibilities you would have in this scenario (e.g., co-payment).
I also accept self-payment. This option is worth considering if you do not want insurance involved in our work together, or if you have coverage through a carrier other than those with which I contract (in which case I would be considered an out-of-network provider). Some carriers may reimburse you in part for fees paid to providers that are not in their network, and I can often assist with submitting claims on your behalf even if I am not in your carrier's network.

Scheduling

If you feel that I may be the right therapist for you, please email me to inquire about a free phone consultation. This consultation will help us decide whether it makes sense to schedule a meeting to talk further. During our initial conversations, we will discuss what you are looking for and determine whether we are a good fit for helping you get what you want out of psychotherapy. Should we decide at any point that your needs may be better met by another therapist, we can discuss how you may be able to find the right person.
Before We Meet

If we decide to schedule a meeting, some paperwork will be necessary before we get together. I am able to provide secure electronic access to these important documents that will allow you to carefully read and complete them ahead of time.
